Palm Sunday Procession

This Sunday is what Christian’s call “Palm Sunday.”  It is a time when we remember the “triumphal entry” of Jesus into Jerusalem the last week of his life (foretold by the prophet Zechariah).  If you look at Mark 11, you will see crowds gathered as Jesus rode into town on a donkey.  They waved Palm branches and sang out “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!  Hosanna!”  The branches, at that time, represented victory.  Many of those gathered at that time, however, would have thought of Jesus as a political figure, not a dying servant.  Not until after his death and subsequent return to life would they have grasped the full meaning of his victory.

Tomorrow morning at 9:45 we will re-enact some of that event by walking around the town green, singing songs, and waving palm branches.
